Christine and CJ love the story. Yes, give us the facts, but let’s hear how you got there. We are the couple who stops and talks to the “picker” dropping a load off at the local junk yard or flea market. We love to share a story from our own life, be it old world Europe and Turkey or our many modern-day adventures. Christine started her professional career working for a French International Real Estate Developer before moving on to become Co-Owner and Managing Partner of one of the most successful commercial interior design firms in the Southeast. CJ finished his early schooling in Turkey before starting a 26-year adventure as an Air Force Officer collecting treasures from all around the world. But we would both tell you the greatest treasures are the people and the stories they shared; and oh yes, a few that had us at the center of it all.
One of the most interesting story telling mediums is how we decorate our homes. Some are obvious like my old military shadow box full of stories from all over the world. While others nestled in there subtly are far more interesting, like our friend who turned his in ground pool into one of the most amazing vegetable gardens you could ever be privileged to taste. Some are eager to boldly testify to those adventures and occasions that left their mark on their lives, while still others are a bit more nuanced. With all that in mind and our love of a well told story we discovered the most common language of story telling is in how we chose to decorate our homes.
Fully aware that we are both a bit “vintagey” ourselves, we love pieces that tell stories all on their own like an old Dutch wooden cookie mold or even what each and every little vignette in our homes says to family, friend and visitor alike. Our promise at Vintage Panache is that we will do our best to provide you researched, beautiful unique and archetype vintage pieces to help you add a little panache to your own story telling in your home or in the treasures found here you chose to give as gifts.
